What is the Saints Way? ( 'Forth An Sans' in Cornish)

The route has a little bit of everything, trail, riverbanks, woodland, fields and country lanes.

The Saints Way Trail is an historic, way marked 28.5 Mile Trail in Cornwall which starts in Padstow on the North Coast and finishes in Fowey on the South Coast.

Rediscovered in 1984, this route is thought to have been used by Pilgrims & missionaries making their way from Ireland & Wales on their way to the continent.

The route starts near St.Petrocs Church in Padstow, weaving its way through streets and lanes before heading out into the fields south of the town and along the banks of Little Petherick Creek. After 4km you pass through the village of Little Petherick. then head back out into the countryside, navigating fields, lanes and the notorious 'Cornfield of Doom'. After crossing the A39 at the 8km mark you make your way across St.Breock Downs and then follow the route south through hamlets and farmsteads, passing through Withiel & Tremorebridge before reaching the halfway point in the Town of Lanivet.

From there you pass under the A30 and head south along winding lanes to the ancient Neolithic & Bronze age monument of Helman Tor. From here you continue South, through the village of Lanlivery, past Powderham Castle, crossing the A390 and on towards Milltown. As you follow the stunning Golant Valley and River Fowey South, you will pass through the village of Golant itself and then begin your final approach to the finish in the picturesque town of Fowey.
